Jr. Board has New Member, New Name!

On Wednesday, August 4, 2010 the GJEF Jr. Board seated new member Tobi Otepola-Bello of Novato. The board also voted to change its name to Marin Teens: Positive Impulse, and by so doing adopts a new title: The Teen Board of the Gaines-Jones Education Foundation.

Junior Board Fundraiser Update

Mission accomplished!!

With the help of many generous donors, GJEF Junior Board has exceeded the goal of $2000 in their 2010 fundraiser involving Heifer International and Backpacks for Homeless students at Hamilton School in Novato, CA.

The total amount raised: $2,065!

These two projects will help the Jr. Board address their two mission goals: to help others locally and globally.

LOCALLY: providing School Backpack Kits for 100 homeless children at Hamilton Elementary School. In January 2010 the Marin Charitable Association gave a $500 grant for this project. Together these funds purchased sturdy backpacks and school supplies.

GLOBALLY: donating to Heifer International, an organization that combats hunger by giving farm animals to the people around the world who need them most. A cow, goat or sheep can change lives. This is a great organization that not enough people know about. It needs our support.

Junior Board receives Marin Charitable Association Grant

On January 26, 2010 the Junior Board received a grant for $500 from Marin Charitable Association. The money helped fund the purchase of backpacks and school supplies for homeless students at Hamilton School in Novato.
