There are thousands of scholarship opportunities in addition to our Gaines-Jones scholarship. We advise all students to apply to as many as they are eligible for. Treat the search for college funding like a part-time job. The payoff can be much greater. Here are some places to start:
American Indian College Fund: The American Indian College Fund provides scholarships to American Indian and Alaska Native college students seeking under- graduate and graduate degrees at tribal colleges, nonprofit, and accredited schools.

AAUW Women’s Fellowships and Grants: One of the world’s largest sources of funding for graduate women, AAUW is providing $3.9 million in funding for fellowships and grants to 250 outstanding women and nonprofit organizations

American Library Association (ALA) Scholarships: The American Library Association (ALA) is committed to promoting and advancing the librarian profession. They provide $300,000 annually for study in a master’s degree in library and information studies from an ALA accredited program.

Future Farmers of America (FFA) Scholarships: Through the National FFA Foundation, businesses and individuals sponsor scholarships that are awarded to students with a wide variety of higher education plans and career goals.

LGBTQ Point Foundation Scholarship: Point Foundation (Point) is the nation’s largest higher education scholarship-granting organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) students. Point’s multifaceted support of its scholarship recipients (“scholars”) extends far beyond direct financial contribution toward the cost of their education.

Obama Foundation Scholars: The Obama Foundation Scholars Program seeks to support dynamic, collaborative, rising leaders from around the world in an innovative one-year academic experience.

The SmithGroup EIC Scholarship Program: The SmithGroup is an award-winning, multinational, integrated design firm on a mission to design a better future. They created this Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EUI) Scholarship Program to support and mentor students from historically underrepresented demographics in architecture, interior design, planning, landscape architecture and engineering. The program’s mission is to provide students with the opportunity to attain their professional goals while advancing the architecture,/engineering/construction (AEC) industry and improving the built environment.
This scholarship includes a one-time award of $6,000 to offset the student's tuition at their current academic institution (5 scholarships are awarded each year). Additionally, the scholarship recipients serve as paid summer interns at SmithGroup offices across the United States (internship is a program requirement). Since the scholarship program's inception, we have awarded $90,000 in tuition aid to 15 recipients across the country.
